things that make me question if my work environment is real
a non-exhaustive list; written from the perspective of someone working full-time for the first time in a corporate environment
The himbo thing from this post.
My team, organizing the socials for our office, tried to keep our plans secret from anyone in the office who could pass by our glass meeting room by drawing the plans, like Pictionary, instead of writing them. We committed to this bit for a whole hour.
I made a chicken leg mascot that looked not-so-vaguely phallic, AS A JOKE, and my teammates liked it so much we pitched it to the larger office semi-seriously. They also loved it. It remains on our weekly meeting whiteboard.
Discussed Pokemon Smash or Pass with two coworkers semi-seriously.
On a different occasion, discussed "boyfriend Pokemon" β the bipedal ones that look like they'd be a hot boy or something (e.g. Lucario, Gallade, etc.) β with one of them. I said sadly that there were no "boyfriend Pokemon" in Gen II, and she disagreed, but couldn't think of one. We took a moment away from work to scroll through Serebii.net until we found Scizor and felt accomplished.
Was talking about Free! ships with a coworker. After discovering we could have one of two polar opposite ships (MakoHaru and RinHaru, if you're in the know), we nervously prepared photos of our respective ships on our phone and counted down to the moment we'd reveal it to each other. We cheered and hugged when we found out we had the same ship.
Weekly meeting ended early so we, including bosses, started playing with our new camera's auto-zoom feature for a bit.
Coworkers give each other temporary tattoos regularly.
We hosted a social event at the office where the theme was "pajama party" and 90% of us brought pajamas to change into in the middle of the day. There was a new hire coming in that day, and she arrived in her pajamas too. Even the high school intern wore pajamas.
(I think I'm just surprised I work with a handful of weird people, when the first impression they give off is rather normie... but I suppose the same can be said of myself.)
