my hear me outs
My last few posts have been quite normal so I thought it was a good time to post a list of characters I've had a crush on that are a little bit questionable.
Not considered a Hear Me Out to me:
- Real life public figures whose only sins are not looking like Hugh Jackman. Come on now.
- Characters designed to be appealing (Gill from Finding Nemo)
- Tumblr Sexymen, no matter how ridiculous their design. If they're of Sexyman status, enough people like them for you to not have to say "hear me out"!!!
- Attractive human or human-looking fictional characters who are only badly behaved (Dimitri Fire Emblem, post-timeskip)
- Human or human-looking fictional characters who are just a little bit ratty or deformed in some way but generally fall into the realm of attractive (Dabi from My Hero Academia)
- Normal characters to have a crush on as a kid whom you just feel that you aged out of being able to appropriately like (Peter Pan, Roxanne from A Goofy Movie)
- I have to say this again – characters that were meant to be hot. Lola Bunny is a coward's choice.
I could write a whole post on what constitutes a good Hear Me Out... Please choose your Hear Me Outs with more courage.
Not in any particular order – just as they came to mind.
- Timon from The Lion King
- Shovel from Blues Clues
- Jibo the social robot
- A number of Pokémon: the objectively sexy ones aside, I also have Cofagrigus, Beedrill, and Tatsugiri
- Meta Knight from Kirby (although he is meant to be kind of handsome, no...?)
- Wilt from Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends
- Mandark from Dexter's Lab
- Panic from Hercules
- Lumiere from Beauty and the Beast
- Lowly Worm
- Chester and Wilson from Kevin Henkes – but they're, I guess, meant to be normal boys so I give my kid self a pass for liking them, even if they are cartoon mice from a children's book.
- The unhinged bus driver from that one episode of Rocko's Modern Life
- Bullet Bill from the Mario games
- Bobby Zimmeruski from the Goofy Movies
- Mr. Frond from Bob's Burgers
- Cagney Carnation from Cuphead – he is a flower
- Alan Keane from The Amazing World of Gumball – he is a balloon
- The Map from Dora The Explorer — he is a map
- One of the street urchins from the Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack
- I also like Peppermint Larry... I think I just like characters voiced by Jeff Bennett.
- JFK from Clone High, although this is less questionable seeing as he is not only a human but also popular in the context of the show he's in. He's just a ridiculous character to like. It's the JFK of it all.
- Brainy Smurf from The Smurfs
- Daffy Duck
Thanks for reading – here's the Hear Me Out cake my friends and I did for Halloween.
