my favorite daffy duck clips

These days I am big into Disney ducks, but I have always been a Looney Tunes girl at heart. My favorite was Wile E. Coyote – because I love a failguy – but I loved Daffy Duck for the same reason. He was especially funny because he talked so much and so self-importantly (especially in episodes with Porky or Bugs), which was always a great setup for whatever comedic failure would follow. I feel like the animators drew and animated him particularly hilariously, like they could go harder on the slapstick and expressions with a comedic punching bag like Daffy, but maybe I'm just biased.

Also, he was very easy to provoke – I don't think I'll ever not find Mel Blanc screaming funny. Given this, I'm surprised Wile E. Coyote (notably silent) was my childhood favorite... But anyway!

Here are some Daffy clips that make me laugh. I'm saving them for a rainy day. I hope someone else enjoys them too. And if you are a failguy please email me.

yoicks and away

The sheer ridiculousness of him chopping down every tree (I love how they animated him chopping so fervently)... dear to me

we'll settle it man to man

The struggle to get the gun out and then!!!

girls, you'd better hold on to your boyfriends

I first saw this on Twitter actually (and not in childhood), and I was already cracking up by "first, I drink a generous portion of gasoline..."

NO!! NO!!!!!!

This was one of my favorite episodes as a kid because of all the screaming. The clip of him tearing up the black space combined with the shriek has me in tears.

i saw a guy do this in a toothpaste ad once

(Man. I'm starting to realize Bugs Bunny is probably the reason I find Brooklyn accents handsome. Okay.)

mine mine mine!!!

Not as funny as the others but I think how he moves here is so good. Him stomping the ground!!!

shoot me now!

EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS. I love the face after Bugs asks, "Yes?" and all the shots of him after he's shot. Artful. Comedy gold. A classic.
